On March 11, the congregation of Ukrainian Lutheran Church located in Lutherstadt Wittenberg along with other refugees organised an event dedicated to the birth of a famous Ukrainian poet, artist, linguist and revolutionist Taras Shevchenko.

The event took place in the Old Latin School which has become a favourite meeting place for the Ukrainian refugees. Children and adults remembered the hard life of the poet, recited his poems, watched his pictures, speculated on his life activities and exchanged the ideas.

Such events help Ukrainians remember their history, culture and traditions as well as keep close being far away from their homeland.
