Herrenhuter readings for Friday, the 14th November 2014

worshipping idolsThus saith the Lord God; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols. (Ez 14;6) And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, And saying, “Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein.” (Act 14:12.14-15)

Lutheran order of the divine service in isiZulu and seTswana.

Das_Jüngste_Gericht_(Memling)The Lutheran Order of Service for the 2nd last Sunday in the Church Year is available here in isiZulu and seTswana. Today it comes with a sermon based on God’s word from St. Paul’s 2nd letter to the Corinthians by Rev.M.N. Mntambo (LTS in Tshwane, GP) in isiZulu (wz1456141116 Tr 26) and translated as usual into seTswana (wt1456141123 n Tr 26) by my father Rev. E.A.W.Weber DD (Welbedacht, KZN).

The readings for this 2nd last Sunday in the Church Years are:

  • Old Testament: Jeremiah 8: 4-7
  • The Epistle: Romans 8:18-23
  • The Gospel: St Matthew 25:31-46
  • Psalm: 50:2-4.6

The liturgical colour is green.

May you have a very blessed weekend and have time to meditate on the watchword for this 2nd Last Sunday in the Church Year: For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. (2.Cor.5:10)

O Lord, so rule and govern our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirt that, ever mindful of the end of all things and the day of Your just judgment, we may be stirred up to holiness of living here and dwell with You forever hereafter; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

If you are called to preach this weekend, may the triune God give you joy and strength, passion and wisdom, knowledge and insight – and the true words and pictures to preach his holy will faithfully according to his most precious revelation of his will and promises in both the Old and New Testament! However if you are not preaching, but listening – then listen as if God is talking to you + His precious gospel is “the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Rom 1:16 NIV)

We thank the Lutheran Heritage Foundation for supporting the distribution of hard-copies of these orders of worship and sermons throughout Southern Africa. If you also want a copy please do not hesitate to subscribe by writing to EAWWeber@bundunet.co.za.
