The Lutheran Order of Service for the Holiday of Epiphany is available here in isiZulu and seTswana. Today it comes with a sermon based on God’s Word from the epistle of St. Paul to the Ephesians in the in the third chapter verses 2-3a.5-6. This sermon was written by retired missionary Rev. Kurt-Günter Tiedemann (Tarmstedt, Germany) in isiZulu (wz1609160110 umkhosi wePhifaniya) and translated as usual by my dear father Rev. E.A.W. Weber DD (Welbedacht, KZN) into seTswana (wt1609160110 moletlo wa Epifaniya).
The readings for this holiday of Epiphany are:
- Old Testament: Isaiah 60:1-6
- The Epistle: Ephesians 3:2-3a.5-6
- The Gospel: St. Matthew 2:1-12
- Psalm: 100:1-5
The liturgical colour is white.
May you have a very blessed weekend and have time to meditate on the watchword for this holy Epiphany season: The darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. (1.Joh.2:8b KJV)
And we pray with a collect for this Holiday: O God, by the leading of a star You made known Your only-begotten Son to the Gentiles. Lead us, who know You by faith, to enjoy in heaven the fullness of Your divine presence; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit one God now and forever. Amen. (LSB Pastoral Care Companion 542)
If you are called to preach this weekend, may the triune God give you joy and strength, wisdom, knowledge and insight – and the true words and pictures to preach his holy will faithfully according to his most precious revelation of his will and promises in both the Old and New Testament! However if you are not preaching, but listening – then listen as if God is talking to you + His precious gospel is “the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Rom 1:16 NIV)
