The Lutheran Order of Service for the Harvest Observance is available here in isiZulu and seTswana. Today it comes with a sermon based on God’s Word from the Holy Gospel of St. Luke in the 12th chapter verses (13-14) 15-21 written by my dear brother missionary Rev. P.C. Weber (Ohlangeni, KZN) in isiZulu (wz1546150906 n Tr 14 ngomkhosi wokubonga ukuvuna) and translated as usual by my father Rev. E.A.W.Weber DD (Welbedacht, KZN) into seTswana (wt1546150906 n. Tr. 14 moletlo wa go lebogela thobo).
The readings for the Harvest Observance are:
- Old Testament: Isaiah 58:7-12
- The Epistle: 2.Corinthians 9:6-15
- The Gospel: St. Luke 12: (13-14) 15-21
- Psalm: 104:27-28.30.33
The liturgical colour is green.
May you have a very blessed weekend and have time to meditate on the watchword for the Harvest Observance: The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season. (Psa 145:15 ESV)
A collect for the Harvest Observance: Almighty God, You crown the fields with Your blessing and permit us to gather in the fruits of the earth. As stewards of Your creation, may we receive Your gifts in humble thankfulness and share Your bounty with those in need; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. (Lutheran Service Book: Altar Book Pg.990)
If you are called to preach this weekend, may the triune God give you joy and strength, wisdom, knowledge and insight – and the true words and pictures to preach his holy will faithfully according to his most precious revelation of his will and promises in both the Old and New Testament! However if you are not preaching, but listening – then listen as if God is talking to you + His precious gospel is “the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Rom 1:16 NIV)
