The Lutheran Order of Service for the 1st Sunday after Trinity is available here in isiZulu and seTswana. Today it comes with a sermon based on God’s word Deuteronomy (5th Book of Moses) in the sixth chapter the verses 4-9 written by Pastor E.S. Sithole PhD (KZN) in isiZulu (wz1435140622 n Tr 1) and translated as usual seTswana (wt1435140622 n Tr 1) by my father Rev. E.A.W.Weber DD (Welbedacht, KZN).
The readings for this 1st Sunday after Trinity are:
Old Testament: Deuteronomy 6:4-9
The Epistle: 1.John 4:16b-21
The Gospel: Luke 16:19-31
The liturgical colour is green.
May you have a very blessed weekend and have time to meditate on the watchword for this week: “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.” (Luk 10:16 NIV)
A collect for this Sunday: Almighty, everlasting God, you have given us the promise of your divine life. Bestow upon us your Holy Spirit, that, quickened by your word, we may lay hold on eternal life by strong faith in your Son, and in him be saved; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. (Doberstein 99)
If you are called to preach this weekend, may the triune God give you joy and strength, enthusiasm and wisdom, knowledge and insight – and the true words and pictures to preach his holy will faithfully according to his most precious revelation of his will and promises in both the Old and New Testament! However if you are not preaching, but listening – then listen as if God is talking to you + His precious gospel is “the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” (Rom 1:16 NIV)
We thank the Lutheran Heritage Foundation for supporting the distribution of hard-copies of these orders of worship and sermons throughout Southern Africa. If you also want a copy please do not hesitate to subscribe by writing to EAWWeber@bundunet.co.za.
