Meeting in Pretoria is fun. The weather is good, so is the accommodation at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Tshwane and we even have access to St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches facilities in case our space is just a wee bit limited for the size of the conference.
Throughout the 2nd day of our pastor’s conference Professors Senkbeil and Yahnke (http://doxology.us/) led us into the serious issues of the following topics: “The silent epidemic: Compassion fatigue”; “Out of the depths: Sadness, dispair and recovery”; “Depression, dysfunction and despair”; “Lead us not into temptation: Sexual misconduct”; and “Deliver us from evil: A Christ-centered strategy for exposing and fighting the devil’s schemes”.
The devotions framing the proceedings were led by Dean Thwala and pastor Sibanyoni from KZN in the morning and by Dean Danisa and Prof. Senkbeil in the evening. At noon we had prayed the Litany together and the evening came to a close with an exhortation from Prof. Dr. John W. Kleinig on the “Joy of the ministry”.
