Martin Chemnitz (+1586)

Today the Lutheran Church also remembers the death of the 2nd Martin – Martin Chemnitz (+1586), who was prominently engaged in the confessional efforts of overcoming the theological challenges, factions and false teachings facing the Church after Luther’s death and was authoritatively in charge as one of the main editors of the Formula of Concord, which became part of the Book of Concord.

He not only wrote significant theological studies like his monography on Christology: “The two natures of Christ” and “The Loci theologici” (Dogmatics of the Church), but also the authoritative disputation and refutation of the Tridentinum in his monumental work: “The Council of Trent”.

Read more about this man of God, who gave so much to the Church for that we are grateful even today. A good introduction and overview is here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Chemnitz
